Lisbon, Paris, & Amsterdam

Scenes from Amsterdam On my grand adventure exploring Europe I have collected so many fine memories.   Above are a few pictures of Amsterdam…the city of canals!  This was my first time in Amsterdam and I succumbed to its charms.  It enchants you with its colorful gabled houses and elm lined canals.  With 90 islands connected by 1,500 hundred bridges it is a joy to … Continue reading Lisbon, Paris, & Amsterdam

Greetings from Spain!   I am currently out of the country and touring Europe on the Viking Sky cruise ship.   Our first stop was gorgeous Barcelona.  It is my favorite city.  This picture was taken in the harbor just outside of Cadiz, Spain…one of the oldest cities in Europe! From Cadiz I took a tour to Seville where I found the most gorgeous embroidered … Continue reading SPAIN

Check Please!

Check Please!   Checking in with this almost-off-the-shoulder check top.  The black, white, and grey check pattern wraps around the shoulders in a generous shawl-collar  and then criss-crosses at the center.  A black peplum-like shape emerges from under the check collar and flairs out at the hem.   The black knit portion seems to have some stretch and skims without feeling restrictive.  I found this top at … Continue reading Check Please!

A New Cape for Spring

Today’s post features my new black scalloped hem cape. This black cape will be traveling with me to Europe in Spring.  I first saw this piece on the very stylish Jamie Lewinger a few months back on her blog, More Than Turquoise, I loved the scalloped hem and overall design of this piece.  Jamie described the fabric as lighter weight appropriate for New Mexico winter weather … Continue reading A New Cape for Spring

Dress Rehearsal Magic

Dressed for a bit of Dress Rehearsal magic at Lyric Opera of Chicago.  A new production of Bizet’s Carmen will be making its debut this weekend.  I attended the Dress Rehearsal on Wednesday with my mother.   It was magical.  The music, singing, scenery, and Lyric’s very own ballet troupe made this an unforgettable performance.  The Children’s Choir was also magnificent.   The choreography was spectacular … Continue reading Dress Rehearsal Magic

Watching the Watchman

Today’s post features a trio of styles that are built around my Watchman skirt from Dogstar clothing.  The first picture shows the simplest styling.  I have paired my Watchman skirt with a white blouse and cinched it at the waist with my Marni belt.  This is the foundation for all the stylings.  This foundation….Watchman skirt, white blouse and Marni belt…. also includes my Ben Amun … Continue reading Watching the Watchman

Casting Call

Today, I am featuring my latest accessory….an ankle-to-thigh Velcro encrusted cast.  I had knee surgery this past Friday the 13th, which is why I have been absent from my blog.   Anesthesia hit me hard and then realizing that this cast would be with me longer than implied…talk about a Bait-and-Switch.   The injury and resulting surgery were bad enough, but this cast dampened all … Continue reading Casting Call
